With a background in architecture, Chris Baas uses the same sentiment with his multi-dimensional pieces, building from the ground up. He seeks to serve as the antidote to a digitally screened, two-dimensional, fast paced environment. Baas encourages one to slow tempo and appreciate dimension through the experience of his minimally gestured figurative and still life compositions.

The forms are realized through a novel process in which he engineered and then painted in a gradient of oil paint take on a neutral palette, encouraging once again a slower tempo of being.

Chris currently lives and works in both Tribeca and Encinitas, CA.
